The Indian Ocean is the third largest ocean in the world and has an area of around 26,469,800 sq miles.

It has a depth of around thirteen thousand feet and the Java Trench is known as its deepest point.

This Ocean is known for its monsoonal weather conditions that dominate Southeast Asia. The infamous tsunami which happened at Boxing Day in 2004 occurred at Indian Ocean. The tsunami was triggered with a magnitude of Mw 9.1–9.3, it is the third largest earthquake ever recorded on a seismograph.
